Oh The beauty of the internet.
For those of you who love twitter, or who spend hours deeply
engaged in the new era of increased transplantary connections,
then you may have heard the slogan
"cala a boca, Galvao" during the FIFA games.
For those of you who know Portuguese
you know it's just a way to tell the annoying
sports commentator Galvao, to shut up.
However for the rest of us who are easily fooled by
whatever the internet has to say,
this phrase meant something more humanitarian.
When Americans began questioning what the phrase meant,
it got twisted into this new campaign to help save
the rare species of the Galvao birds.
By simply twitting this sentence you were
donating .10 cents to save the birds.
It made it on the top twitter feeds during the World Cup,
while an entire country sat
laughing at the rest of the world.
The best part about it is, part two of Lady Gag's hit single Alejandro
is called "Cala a Boca, Galvao,"
she is definitely doing her part to "save the world."
