Oh The beauty of the internet.

For those of you who love twitter, or who spend hours deeply
engaged in the new era of increased transplantary connections,
then you may have heard the slogan
"cala a boca, Galvao" during the FIFA games.

For those of you who know Portuguese
you know it's just a way to tell the annoying
sports commentator Galvao, to shut up.
However for the rest of us who are easily fooled by
whatever the internet has to say,
this phrase meant something more humanitarian.
When Americans began questioning what the phrase meant,
it got twisted into this new campaign to help save
the rare species of the Galvao birds.
By simply twitting this sentence you were
donating .10 cents to save the birds.
It made it on the top twitter feeds during the World Cup,
while an entire country sat
laughing at the rest of the world.

The best part about it is, part two of Lady Gag's hit single Alejandro
is called "Cala a Boca, Galvao,"
she is definitely doing her part to "save the world."

It's the most wonderful time..

Tis' The Season

Here comes that time of year again!

All-nigher slumber parties with Aristotle,
The Consumerism of Starbucks coffee
The anxious feeling of getting a good spot in the library
(and the following the feeling of excitement
when that "good spot" has a plug-in near by.)
The college-humor and youtube study breaks.
The relearning or just learning.
Re-reading or sparknotes
fa-la-la-la-la

ohhh. Tis' the season to be learning.
(is it wrong how much I seriously enjoy finals season?

Nasty?

Why I boycott Nestle?
  • Nestle, in order to sell more of its infant formula, would hire women to dress up as nurses in Third World countries to give away free samples of the Nestle baby Formula.
  • Mothers would be forced to buy the formula, but because of their lack of money would have to mix the formula with unsanitary water.
  • So while nestle made big profits, babies in the Third World died.
  • Nestle, essentially pumps states dry, and sells water back in a bottled version for 3 times the price. The company extracted water for an aquifer in Sao Lorenco. For more information on Water as a human right, and Nestle watch the documentary flow.
  • Nestle has violed labour rights in the Philippines

Where's Hollywood?

I'm yet another resource-consuming kid in an overpopulated planet.

Our wallets must all be empty...
but lets keep on buying into the idea that we can purchase fabulousness.
